Heal the Gut, Heal the Body

Updated: Oct 25, 2021

Carley Smith, also known as The Fairy Gutmother, is a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and Certified Gut & Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Practitioner (CGP), as well as a 200-hour, Registered Yoga Instructor (RYT). It was her Lyme disease diagnosis that really propelled her interest in health and nutrition. Because Lyme disease presents itself with so many different signs and symptoms, Carley went through months of not knowing what was making her sick. After finally dialing in and figuring it out, her doctor started her on antibiotics, which worked for a few months! However, after several months of controlling her Lyme disease with medication on top of medication, she was ready for a change.

The GAPS diet by Dr. Natasha Campbell-Bride is a healing protocol that is founded upon the idea that if we heal our guts, we can begin to heal our health issues. Carley noticed an improvement in her health almost immediately upon starting this diet! A year has gone by, and she is completely off all Lyme-related medications and has control of her life and her health again.

Carley offers knowledge and experience when it comes to clean, healthy eating. Make sure to check out her website https://www.fairygutmother.com/ to learn more about her incredible story and to try out some of her gut-healthy recipes!

This recipe she is sharing with us uses locally grown potatoes from Strohauer Farms in La Salle, CO. Starting back in 1910, this now 4th generation, family-owned farm grows fingerling potatoes, shallot onions, corn, wheat, hay, and triticale. They feed over 1.5 million people with their homegrown products!
